This proposed new home is on a vacant sloping site that is on the shoreline of a small lake. The street wraps around a cove of the lake, and the proposed home is on the uphill side looking down towards the water. The topography allowed for a single-story ranch home look towards the road, with a walk-out lower level at the rear facing the lake. This siting was important for determining the layout of the home.
The construction of the upper level is a modular home. Working closely with the modular home designer, an open and flowing upper level configuration was created. This included a large living and dining room that faces the lake and is open to a spacious kitchen. This upper level also has a large master bedroom suite with a bathroom, and a walk-in-closet that also has a laundry area. There are also two bedrooms on the opposite end that share a hallway bathroom. The front has a covered entry porch, and on the rear is a deck that extends the length of the house to take advantage of the views down to the lake.
The lower level has a large recreation room, a fourth bedroom, bathroom, storage areas, and a hobby room. There is a mud room which connects the home to the two car garage on this level. The lower level is partially buried, but the entire rear is exposed to the rear yard area. This lower level area, the adjacent garage, the front porch and the rear deck are not part of the modular construction and are a separate construction that will blend with the modular portion.
